Actor Russel Crowe is the latest addition to Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love And Thunder. While Crowe’s role still hasn’t been announced yet, we are still excited to see him. But before that, did you know he also played Jor-El, the father of Kal-El or Superman in the DC Extended Universe films?
In honour of Crowe joining the MCU, let’s take a look at other actors who played roles in both Marvel and DC.
1. JK Simmons
JK Simmons plays J Jonah Jameson, the editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle Sam Raini’s Spider-Man movies. He also played Commissioner James Gordon in Justice League (2016) and Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021).

2. Tom Hardy
Tom Hardy played the masked villain Bane in The Dark Knight Rises (2012), after which he migrated to Marvel. In Marvel’s Venom, he plays Eddie Brock, who merges with a symbiotic and becomes a vigilante.

3. Zachary Levi
Before playing Shazam, Zachary Levi played Thor’s friend Fandral, in Thor: The Dark World. He reprised his role in Thor: Ragnarok, but was killed off pretty quickly.

4. Chris Evans
While Evans is popular as both Captain American in Avengers and Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four, he also had the role of Jake Jensen in The Losers which was based on the comic book series of the same name published by DC’s Vertigo imprint.

5. Ryan Reynolds
Ryan Reynolds played DC’s Green Lantern, a decision that haunts him to this day. He went over to Marvel to play Deadpool or Wade Wilson. In Deadpool, he is even shown to have poked fun at his decision to play Green Lantern.

6. Halle Berry
Halle Berry has played Storm in X-Men (2000), and X2: X-Men United (2003). After that, she went on to play the DC anti-hero Catwoman in 2004. Soon after, Berry returned to her Marvel role in X-Men: Last Stand and X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

7. Christian Bale
According to recent news, Christian Bale is all set to play the villain in Thor: Love and Thunder. However, he is more famously known for playing Bruce Wayne or Batman in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy.

8. Ben Affleck
In 2003, Affleck was Daredevil, a Marvel hero, which was a critical failure. However, Affleck received a second chance to play the hero in the form of Batman in Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice (2016), Justice League (2017) and Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021).

9. Michael Fassbender
Fassbender started his superhero franchise career with DC, where he had a role in DC’s adaptation of supernatural bounty hunter Jonah Hex. While the movie tanked at the box office, Fassbender had a more successful stint as Magneto in Marvel. The actor portrayed a young version of Marvel’s Magneto in X-Men’s First Class trilogy, which comes to an end with the X-Men: Apocalypse.

10. Josh Brolin
Josh Brolin also started his journey with DC’s commercial failure Jonah Hex. Marvel seemed to be his saving grace though, as he plays the mad Titan Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame and as Cable in Deadpool 2.
