Baburao Ganpatrao Apte – who knew this curse-spewing and costume hoarding old man from Kolhapur would become the coolest person in our eyes? Priyadarshan and Paresh Rawal’s Baburao instantly charmed us, and 20 years later, is the best thing on the Internet. Even though he gets into countless mishaps, he is still the funniest guy we know and love.
1. He takes life as it comes.
Become poor? Order a pizza. Get rich? Still keep old telephone for good luck. In a problem? Dance your troubles away. Baburao is the ultimate chill guy, who believes in not getting overwhelmed by what ifs or what will be. This is something we could stand to learn, instead of getting swamped under future plans.

2. He recognizes the good in people.
He gives Shyam (Suniel Shetty) a home when he needs one. He understands Tabu’s plight. He even consoles Raju (Akshay Kumar) when he comes to know about his mother. Even when he is funny, he still remembers to be kind in poor conditions.
3. He dances even when he *really* doesn’t know how.
How many of us shy away from dancing because we aren’t graceful or think we look awkward? So what? Baburao doesn’t give a crap about how he looks or how he dances, he just does and thinks of himself as a superstar. This is the kind of attitude we need to develop, otherwise, the world is more than ready to crush our spirits.
4. He has a good heart.
Baburao tries to save the kidnapped child, and gives another child his banana in Phir Hera Pheri. Even though he does want the money, he never tries to harm anyone. When we want to be cruel, remember Baburao’s good and innocent heart (which takes words too literally), and be good and kind.

5. He never backs down from putting you in your place.
Just because you are friends with someone doesn’t mean you let them do bad things; case in point, Raju. When Raju manipulates Shyam and Baburao to get signatures and give away Shyam’s job, Baburao slaps him and lets him know that what he did was wrong. A true friend, indeed.
Are you Baburao or are you normal?
