7 Brilliant Tom Hiddleston Movies Not From The MCU

Who would have thought that one MCU villain could bring a million fans to their knees? But Tom Hiddleston did do it and continues to do so with his portrayal of the cunning God of Mischief, Loki. While we all laud and applaud his MCU performances, Tom Hiddleston has also given some beautiful performances in other movies over the years! On his birthday, let’s celebrate this gorgeous human specimen with some of his movies, not from the MCU.

1. Unrelated

The movie follows Anna, a 40-something woman who attempts to find herself in Tuscany. During her vacation, she finds herself falling in love with Oakley (Tom Hiddleston), a young man. How she tries to balance her life and relationships forms the base of the movie, but what stands out is the charming and boyish Tom.

2. War Horse

Set During World War I,  Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston star in this period drama about a warhorse. Starring Jeremy Irvine in the main role, while Hiddleston’s Captain Nicholls has a short role to play, he still manages to give an impressive performance. His character shows how a simple act of kindness in a cruel world can restore our faith in humanity.

3. Only Lovers Left Alive

Tom is a brilliant vampire in Jim Jarmusch’s dark comedy, where Hiddleston plays a moody supernatural creature depressed as he is no longer content. His contributions to music and science over the years fail to make him happy, but when he reunites with former lover Eve (Tilda Swinton), the arrival of her younger sister Ava (Mia Wasikowska) puts his life in a series of adventures.

4. Midnight In Paris

Woody Allen’s fantasy comedy Midnight in Paris sees Owen Wilson in a titular role as a screenwriter who finds himself traveling to the 1920s at midnight. Tom plays the role of iconic US novelist, F Scott Fitzgerald, and his performance is absolutely amazing as he brings a novelist to life.

5. Crimson Peak

Guillermo del Toro’s gothic romance sees Hiddleston in the dark role of Thomas Sharpe, the intended of Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska). After a tragedy in the family, Edith moves to marry Thomas, but when she arrives, the spooky castle, Thomas and his twin  Lucille (Jessica Chastain) make her question her sanity, as horrors and tragedies await her.

6. Kong: Skull Island

In this mini MCU reunion, with Hiddleston acting opposite Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson, we see him play a British Special Air Service veteran James Conrad (Hiddleston) who encounters Kong on an island, and tries to escape along with his team.  and learn the lesson that sometimes nature fights back.

7. High Rise

Robert Laing (Hiddleston) lives on the 25th floor of a notorious high-rise building where the world is at his feet. But when he discovers how the ultra rich people in the floors about him live and look down on him in disdain, his persona changes and he strives to get revenge on them. Alongside a cast like Jeremy Irons, Elizabeth Moss, and Luke Evans, Hiddleston brings his own charisma in this dystopian movie, and is a good watch.
