7 Real Reasons Why We Love Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was iconic in every way. It was the peak of the Bollywood 90’s vibe and the classic Rahul-Tina-Anjali triangle was both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai has been a cult favourite for ages now, but it’s not the love triangle, the Anjalis or even love struck Rahul that draws us toward it. I mean seriously, was Rahul not the most confused, slightly misogynistic, lowkey disrespectful tease you have ever seen?

Here are the 7 Real Reasons Why We Love Kuch Kuch Hota Hai:

1. Mr. Malhotra and Miss Braganza’s Romance

A real reason why we loved Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was the flirtatious relationship between Principal Malhotra and Miss Braganza. It is very underrated! It normalised dating for older people, remarriage, older women who work and wear ‘short skirts’ and the fact that love really has no age. Also, their phone conversations were such a mood (and also VERY relatable).

2. Tina’s Outfits

There is not one person who was not floored by Tina’s style in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. She created waves with her wardrobe and was the OG style icon before Poo. Her cute crop-top and skirt co-ords, her velvet dress on the track field, with a matching choker and of course her infamous glittery silver dress from the song, Koi Mil Gaya set the trend for the early 2000’s fashion. Whoever saw K2H2 wanted Tina’s wardrobe and also the swag with which she pulled it off.

3. “Pyaar Dosti Hai”

This dialogue right here, helped millions finally escape the friendzone. “Pyaar Dosti Hai” encapsulates love in the most simple way. Love is nothing but friendship. If you’re s/o isn’t your friend, how will you love them? These 3 words convey such a strong message about communication in a relationship and highlight the importance of friendship. Rahul, the messiah of love, clearly knew what he was saying.

4. Camp Sunshine AKA the Camp of our Dreams

Fancy kids had Camp Rock, but us desi kids had Camp Sunshine. An idyllic camp somewhere in the hills that was very colourful, had fun activities, cool tents and was run by a Brit obsessed Johnny Lever. What could possibly be better? We ALL searched for Camp Sunshine after watching the movie and it is one of the real reasons we love Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. PS-Till date a camp like Camp Sunshine does not exist. WHY?!)

5. Cute Sardar Child

He may not have had a name and he may not have even had any dialogues, yet he stays with us… and always will.

6. Aman, and the fact that he deserved SO much better

This is probably the only moment we will ever want Justice for Salman Khan. He played Aman, Anjali’s doting fiance who 1. Got emotionally cheated on. While he was missing his fiance, she was busy dancing in the rain with another man 2. Got caught in Anjali and Rahul’s toxic and strange love story 3. Let Rahul marry Anjali at HIS OWN WEDDING (which he himself PAID FOR) 4. Just wanted Anjali to be happy even if it was with another man. Aman really set the standard for loving and caring boyfriends and was a real reason we loved Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (LOL the irony). Aman was a gem in every way and he deserved better. SO much better.

7. The Dope Version of Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram

This is the real reason we loved Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. This right here. The emotion it conveys, the urgency, the suddenness, the passion and the pure fire it has is everything.
