Nobody plays the character of a love-struck man in Bollywood movies better than Ranbir Kapoor. You have to agree- playing the role of a 20 something lover boy, who falls in love with a girl that changes his life, is a role that screams “RK!!!” like nothing else. And hey, we are not complaining! Some of his most loved roles are of this type. And while the beginning of every RK movie makes us say “same old, same old- a young man in love”, each of his characters still has a different story. And all these characters is a filmy version of the guys we see around us in real life.
So today, since it’s our favourite chocolate boy’s birthday, we decided to have a look at our favourite Ranbir Kapoor characters, but with a twist! Relating some of his iconic characters with love-struck guys we see irl- here are 6 types of guys in love ft. Ranbir Kapoor characters!
1. The Man-Child– Siddharth Mehra
You basically turn into their mom rather than being just a girlfriend. He’s aimless, lost in life and constantly needs attention. The extremely lazy and carefree Siddharth Mehra from Wake Up Sid was a spoilt man-child who only knew to spend his father’s money when he met Aisha Banerjee. It took a lot of effort for the poor girl to put sense into this man child! (We feel you, Aisha) Let us tell you that it is only at the end that they confess their love towards each other.
2. The Playboy– Raj Sharma
We all must have come across one such character in our lives or at least there will be one in our very own friend circle who is commitment-phobic and gets over a girl quicker than taking a shower. Ranbir Kapoor’s character as Raj Sharma in Bachna Ae Haseeno was exactly that! He uses Mahi and Radhika for his own benefits and leaves them heartbroken.
3. The Complete Majnu- Ayan Sanger
Too much of anything can be a problem, right? Even love! Well, Ranbir Kapoor’s character as Ayan in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was exactly the same. He was so in love with Alizeh (played by Anushka Sharma) that he wasn’t ready to accept the fact that she is marrying the love of her life. Ayan finds comfort in the arms of Saba (Aishwarya Rai). But, all he does in this relationship is make Alizeh jealous. (He does make peace with the fact that he can at least be friends with Alizeh.)
4. The One in the friend zone- Prem Shankar Sharma
If you don’t express what you feel, you will end up being friend-zoned. Ranbir Kapoor’s character Prem Shankar Sharma in Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani falls in love with Jenny (played by Katrina Kaif). He does everything to woo her and make her fall in love with him, but she ends up friend-zoning him. Prem being the good friend even helps Jenny to reunite with his lover. (How sweet of him, but why boy, why?)
5. The Caring One- Barfi
Now, this is the man we all wish for. Ranbir Kapoor’s character as Barfi is my all-time favourite. Though his love story with Jhilmil (Priyanka Chopra) was an accidental one, he ends us taking care of her. He makes sure she is happy and that sight itself makes my heart happy. This is the kind of couple I will always root for.
6. The Over Ambitious One- Kabir Thapar
Career is important definitely but – Life mein jitna bhi try karo, kuch na kuch toh chootega hi. Toh jahan hai, vahi ka mazza lete hai.
Ranbir Kapoor’s character as Bunny from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewaani was of a man who wanted to fly high. Yes! vo udna chahta tha, daudna chahta that .Girna bhi chahta tha. Bas, rukna nahi chahta tha. Though he loved Naina, he almost gave her up for his career, only to return in the end. Sometimes living in the moment is all that matters.
