15 Binge-Worthy Shows for Every Sci-Fi & Fantasy Fan

Every once in a while, the real world gets a tad too much, isn’t it? Especially now more than ever, since we are all locked up inside our homes because there’s a deadly virus outside waiting to kill us! A little escape from reality through fantasy shows becomes the easiest and in today’s world, our safest bet!

Also, speaking like the true broke Gen Z that I am,  this is an extremely cheap way of escaping reality. So, if you are someone who is also looking to travel to another dimension like me, here’s a list of some binge-worthy sci-fi and fantasy shows to keep you entertained and blow your mind!

1. Game Of Thrones

Platform: Disney+Hotstar

Starting with the obvious one without being super annoying (or not), you’ve got to watch GOT if you haven’t already! An adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s series of fantasy novels- A Song of Ice and Fire, Game of Thrones is a story of nine families that wage a war against each other to win control over the mythical land of Westeros. It features a large ensemble cast and follows multiple story arcs throughout its course that extends over 8 seasons. Game of Thrones has got a massive international fanbase and all for the right reasons! GOT has got everything- knights, swords, ghosts, crowns, dragons…yes…you read that right, DRAGONS!

2.  Black Mirror

Platform: Netflix

An anthology series created by Charlie Brooker, Black Mirror is a show that follows a dystopian future where several people struggle to deal with the manipulative effects of cutting-edge technology. The show is a perfect depiction of advanced technology, the way we are addicted to it, and where it could all lead us. Black Mirror weirdly makes you contemplate your future and worry about the coming generations.

Did you know that the name of the series ‘Black mirror’ is a reference to the computer/mobile screens that give a dark reflection of the user when they are switched off? Yeah, I am mind-blown too!

3. Dark

Platform: Netflix

Dark is a sci-fi thriller TV series that tells us the story of a German town Widen where children start disappearing bringing into light broken relationships, double lives, and the dark past of four resident families, revealing a mystery that spans four generations. Dark is…well…super complicated. It is one of the most mind-bending TV shows to exist and could only be explained with the help of flow charts and infographics. But do not let that scare you off. You will not regret watching this show, I assure you!

What happens after we die? Do heaven and hell exist? The Good Place answers all these questions for you. I mean there’s no scientific proof if it’s telling us the truth, but hey at least the show is giving us some good time. All jokes aside, The Good Place is a show about an afterlife in which humans are sent to “the good place” or the “the bad place” after death (obviously based on their behaviour here on Earth). The story revolves around the life…or rather the afterlife of a young woman named Eleanor who wakes up in ‘the good place’ but realizes she has been mistaken for someone else. What happens after that is a laughing riot! Watch this show to have a good laugh and learn about the good and bad things in life.
